The Daniel Fast
The Daniel Fast is a biblically inspired partial fast based on verses in Daniel chapters 1 and 10.
It’s a partial fast that emphasizes plant-based whole foods and water while abstaining from other foods and drinks.
Most importantly, it is a period of prayer, fasting, and seeking God.
Daniel Fast Journey provides resources for both the spiritual and practical sides of fasting.

What is the Daniel Fast?
What is fasting in today’s world and in the Bible? As a spiritual practice, Christians fast in a variety of ways and lengths of time.
However if you choose to fast, the Daniel Fast focuses on partial fasting we see in the book of Daniel in the Bible.
Daniel 1 — Daniel and his companions declined the king's food and wine and requested vegetables/foods grown from seed and water.
Daniel 10 — Daniel describes three weeks without pleasant food, meat or wine.
Scripture gives us Daniel's examples; it does not spell out a detailed "Daniel Fast food list."
We have an extreme increase in food options with a massive amount of transportation and variety of processed food.
The Spiritual Purpose of a Daniel Fast
Over the years, Christians have named prayer, reading and studying the Bible, worship, fasting, meditation, solitude and silence, service, and giving as spiritual disciplines.
All of these practices have a focus on God, growing closer to Him, and gaining vision and direction.
Spiritual disciplines overlap in many ways, but the major focuses on this site are Christian fasting, the Daniel Fast, and prayer.
What Can You Eat on the Daniel Fast?
Clearly, food choices have grown larger and more diverse over the years. We have a huge variety of processed foods and drinks.
Check out the Daniel Fast Food Guidelines below for the food categories to eat and avoid.
With prayer, decide for yourself what you eat and abstain from.
Your food choices may differ from someone else’s based on current health, experience, and other factors.
Stay loyal to your Daniel Fast commitment, even through challenging times. The purpose is time with God and depending on Him.
